Can you receive a Merit Scholarship from two different colleges?

I will be attending Baylor University (Waco, TX) and a Tarrant County College (Fort Worth, TX) and I understand that you cannot receive Federal and State financial aid from two different institutions at the same time, BUT can you receive for example Merit Scholarships from two different college's since this is not federal of state aid.
