Dog earrings? Good idea/bad idea?

If the glue is non-toxic and the 'earring' isn't a choking hazard, I don't see it as much different from the bandannas or bows. My vet stuck a gold star sticker on my dog's forehead after her last visit, and my dog is currently wearing the remnants of an orange streamer from yesterday's homecoming parade. I don't dye my dog or paint her nails or dress her up, but she doesn't seem to mind the occasional fun decoration.
