What all can you tell me about Kansas City?

I've thought about moving to Kansas City because I have relatives there. The first thing I want to know is if KC is mostly Democrat or Republican. I'm a staunch Democrat, and I'm ready to leave Texas anytime. If I had it my way, I'd be living in the San Francisco Bay Area amid a Democratic haven, but that option is far-fetched. Nevertheless, I'm now into Plan B because California's economy is in dire straits. I've visited Kansas City several times and liked it. The ubiquitous fountains, boulevards, and Steak-N-Shakes I found most appealing. It seemed like a friendly city, yet I've read it ranks in the top 20 in violent crime and number 1 at road rage. I don't mean to criticize Kansas City, but want to know what's up. I've done my homework because I'm the kind of guy who looks deeply into an investment. Though taking the good with the bad is part of the deal, I want to know if the drawback outweighs the good. Just because it's in the Midwest, that doesn't make it friendly. Detroit is one of the most violent places in the Western Hemisphere. One big reason I'll never move back to my hometown Houston is because half the city is overrun by gangs and the other half is right-wing, bible t, NRA loving, Republican heaven. My last inquiry pertains to the dating scene. Is Kansas City a good place to live if you're a single male in his early 30's, and how big is the nightlife in that locale? If anyone can share some input, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much!
